Getting clear on your vision can be the difference between producing and feeling stuck. These are six tips that help me get clear on my vision when I’m at a loss.
Ask yourself: Why do I do this? What do people expect from me?
Remember the value you bring to your passion and to the people who look to you for your know-how. What comes easily to you may be novel to others so be sure that you deliver in a major way. – @danicaexplains Focus on your strengths and start there for a confidence boost and a pick-me-up. You may be familiar with your strengths inherently, or others may have told you the aspects about you that they admire the most. Either way, capitalize + execute.
Write down your dreams.
Or better yet, share them with another go-getter. Surround yourself with people who want to win and want to see you win just as bad. Writing your dreams down helps you hold yourself accountable. Yes– we’ve all heard that before. But take it further and create actionable strategies to make your dreams reality. I suggest dumping all of your goals for the year in one huge list, then break down your year into quarters, months, weeks and days to tackle your taskings in a more manageable way. It’ll take time but it’s totally worth the investment.
It iz wat it iz.
My dad’s text signature block rings true on this one (it actually applies to any scenario). Some things are just out of your control. Don’t let the worry and anxiety take over before you can even make a dent in that laundry list of ventures you want to make pop in the new year … month, week, day, morning … Make it happen, no ifs, ands or buts!
Get some fresh air! Go to the gym! Get those endorphins going or just switch up the scenery. I find myself in front of the computer for the majority of my day. Sometimes it takes me prying myself away from work just to give myself a breather. Don’t let your guilt from not being an obsessive workhorse keep you from getting some much needed “you time.” You’re actually better off in the long run. There’s no way you’ll be able to consistently produce quality content or work when you try to sprint a marathon. Pace yourself. – @danicaexplains
Check in with yourself. CONSTANTLY. Awareness is vital to your productivity and motivation. How can you know how to effectively manage your motivations when you aren’t even sure of when you’re most motivated to produce + create? Keep a pulse on what works, when you’re most inspired and how you’re most effective then PLAN accordingly. – @danicaexplains What’s the point in knowing you’re most productive in the morning when you don’t capitalize on that? Put it to work!
Show yourself some love.
By far my favorite way to reboot my inspiration and passion. Treat yo’self … mostly because you don’t enough. I don’t mean in the self-indulgent, wake up the next day with regret because you binge ate four donuts the day before … I mean, take yourself to the spa, get your nails done, give yourself a homemade facial mask. Luxuriate for a second and enjoy the moment. Put your phone down and head to the beach. Curl up with a book on your balcony. Whatever it takes for you to feel grateful in this world– do that. – @danicaexplains Gratitude is a sure fire way to pull yourself up out of the pits of self-imposed solitude.
The number one word of advice I can give as a perfection-seeking stereotypical Virgo is to take it easy. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Perfection is never the goal, only progression. Be honest with yourself about where you are and keep moving forward piece by piece, day by day, towards where you want to be. Before you know it, you’ll look back with pride at how far you’ve come. But that’s just my testimony …
